Organisation profile

The International Business research group (IB) was established in 1984 and is thus one of the oldest research groups at AAUBS.

The International Business (IB) research group at Aalborg University Business School (AAUBS) aims: To deliver high-quality problem-based teaching, research, and outreach activities in international business to enable students, companies, and society at large to address the grand challenges in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world.

At the heart of the group is an exceptional team of international scholars who are instrumental in achieving our mission of excellence in teaching, research, and outreach. We seek to continuously improve as a cohesive and well-functioning unit where its individual members can fully realize their potential and, by doing so, make a difference and create beneficial outcomes for the main stakeholders of the AAUBS. Furthermore, a strong belief in the group is that our activities should carry innovation, including elements of novelty and value creation. Therefore, each researcher in the IB group is encouraged to Dream, Aspire, and Dare to push the boundaries of our discipline, seek to probe for the future, aim at provoking debate and reflection on the current and forthcoming core issues in the IB-related areas of research.

The group hosts and mentors a diverse group of PhD candidates who play a pivotal role in creating a collegial and stimulating research environment in real-time as well as when we think strategically and prepare the group for the future.

The group contributes to various educational programs at AAUBS, with the most substantial contribution to teaching and coordination of the MSc in International Business and MSc in Innovation Management. Our student body represents over 30 different countries, fostering a unique environment where diverse cultures converge. This setting allows graduates to learn not only academically but also on a personal level, as they engage with each other's perspectives.

Through collaborations with private and public organizations and institutions, our group members actively co-create innovative knowledge and aspire to contribute to national and international business and economic policy agendas.

Acting as both project coordinators and partners, the group members are involved in numerous substantial research and development projects funded by national and European bodies such as Danida, Tempus, Erasmus+, and H2020.
